Project 366 – Keys Life Week 4

Wow, doing this project has made the month go by even faster! So this week was pretty uneventful. At least by kid standards. We did have a fun weekend and took in the parade.

So my sister locked herself out of her car. I showed up to rescue her. LOL! You know you live in the Keys when you are completely unfazed by the chickens in the parking lot.

Ashley decided to fix their hair. Both boys love faux-hawks. It’s just plain silly. Daddy got a faux-hawk too, but declined to be photographed (not that I blame him!)

We went to the 100th anniversary of Flagler’s railroad parade. It was very fun to see all of the people dressed up in clothing from that era. Plus I went to Mathesson’s and got ice cream. Huge hit for everyone!

The kids started Yoga this week. Well, two of the four anyhow. They really enjoyed it, and are looking forward to classes in the future. Here, I believe Riley is doing “dolphin” pose.

I went to Bahia Honda to attempt some landscape photography. It was not the most successful trip. This is one of the two images that I took. LOL

Homework!

I can’t believe that this week is over already. The time is really going quickly this year! I hope that you are enjoying a continued peek into my daily life.

Row Away With Me

Beautiful Key West sunset, perfect weather, and a family with loads of smiles. A photographer’s dream! I have wanted to use a small boat for a family photo appointment for a long time. And finally here is a beautiful family and a shining example of how much fun it can be when you work together to create a work of art from your family photos!

So darn charming, is there a better way to say it? Love this little guy, he was such a good sport, even during the rowing portion of the adventure!

And his sister, just as charming. Loved her natural comfort in front of the camera.

One of my favorite images, he looks like he could lounge there and soak up the atmosphere all day long.

Come sail away with me. Or row. As the case may be. In any event, enjoy the fun and carefree feeling of this fantastic family and their nontraditional family portraits.

Another one of my favorites, the family close up. They are all so beautiful, and were so much fun to work with, even as they eyed the “little” 10 foot boat. Haha!!

Thank you so much to this fabulous family for being amazing! Loved every minute of the session. And a very special thanks to my friend Jen, who volunteered to help me out, and rode in a truck that badly needs shocks with me while that giant “little” boat was hanging off the bed. And oh thank you so much for not laughing, much, as I desperately tried to shift the truck (it’s a manual) as little as humanely possible. Oh AND for being you, you’re awesome. Just saying. And yes, that was one delicious dinner, must eat there again!

Project 366 – Week 3

In this third week, I found that I enjoy the challenge. Taking a photo a day of your life isn’t as easy as you’d think, but it’s also more exciting than I expected. It’s making me stop and enjoy more out of small details in each day. And that alone is worth the journey.

I love photography. I love being a photographer. And I love Key West. Win – win, right? Well if you’ll notice anything from the photos, daily life is pretty much the same – we get up, we go to work, it’s just warm outside.

Our cat, Honey, is such a, well CAT. She likes to lay on inconvenient things. Like a backpack that contains uncompleted homework.

Little man. Oh little man. I know he’ll be giving up his naptime soon. Still he struggles. He told me he wasn’t tired. I put on a show for him, and two seconds later, there we are. Sound asleep.

My baby is 5 and a half. Yep, she is.

Libby and I had a special mommy and daughter day, where she ran errands with me in Key West. We stopped to get some fun photos at Fort Zachary Taylor State Park. She often makes me wish I were five too. Her view on the world is something that I wish I had, and the fun that she finds in the smallest things, oh how I wish I could do that.

My family (except for Riley, where was he?) in their natural state – Silly.

Want to make your family think you’re nuts? Go standing over one of their heads at 6am… Libby was the only one who would let me actually take the picture. Love her. LOL

He climbed into the laptop bag and was ready for Daddy’s next business trip. It was so cute, who couldn’t take that picture? Think they’d let him take that carry on?

Stop SOPA and PIPA

Today, January 18th, 2012, is the day of the blackout. Google has a black badge over their logo and a link to the following website. Please if you do nothing else today, read this link from Google https://www.google.com/landing/takeaction/ and tell Congress to stop SOPA and PIPA.

Wikipedia.org has a link on their home page today where you can easily find and contact your Senators and Representatives to let them know that you oppose the bills.

I normally do not participate in political things online, but this is important to me. I don’t want a censored internet in the United States.

Project 366 – Week 2

Well folks, your Key West photographer has managed another week straight of taking a photo a day. So far, so good.

Little Libby, love her!

Little hands, yummy kiwi. Each week we get a “food share” of mostly local fresh organic fruit. The kids love the fruit, it’s a favorite snack. And as you can see, they were eagerly digging into that bowl!

Sunday morning we dropped daddy off at the Key West airport. Since it was such a beautiful morning, and I already had the beach toys in the van, we stopped off at Smather’s beach for a couple hours. I really wanted a picture with all four of them in it, one that occurred naturally.

Riley and Ash both take Taekwondo lessons weekly. I love how it has gives them self confidence and awareness. And how I know that my 12 year old can probably kick my butt. Let’s not share that with her though

This picture makes me smile each time I see it. He is so funny! Look at his crinkled nose. I believe his words were “Pick ME up NOW” hehe!!

Kaitlyn hardly contained her excitement when she got home from school. “Mommy I drew a doggy today, and you can tell he is a dog!” She was so proud. How could I resist that as today’s photo? Plus, it is an awesome dog drawing!

My sister came over to hang out with me. We found some cool vintage stuff – the likes of which will probably show up on here in the near future. She’s awesome, ‘nough said. Love ya Jen!

It’s been such a fun project, taking a photo a day. I feel so inspired now, on a regular basis. Lifestyle Art – Little Beauty on the Beach

Key West photography meets children’s whimsy at the beach. Well these were taken at Veteran’s beach, just before the 7 mile bridge, heading toward Marathon, but I digress. Imagine with me – lush beautiful photos of your children, gorgeous scenery of the Florida Keys all wrapped up in the perfect photo to hang on your wall. One that is not just a nice photo of your child, but that is a loving piece of artwork featuring your child.

Of being a fairytale princess; every little girl has dreams
So real to them, it all really seems.

A princess you dream of; a princess you shall be.

For in our hearts, we all wish to be so free.

As to run along next to the sea.

A luscious dream, becomes reality in a frame.

I want to thank Jacqui for allowing me to photograph her adorable daughter. We had a fantastic time playing (erhm, photographing!) while the rest of the children built a lovely sandcastle and scaled the tree.

Children’s photography is exciting because you get to work with the different personalities of the your children. Each photo reflects their joy and view of the world. Capturing the whimsy and daydreams of children to put on a large canvas on your wall, something you will enjoy for years – that is my goal. And it is my pleasure to deliver these daydreams right into your homes, straight from the lovely Florida Keys.

The beauty of the kind of portraits lies in the planning, and a session similar to this involves more than just heading to the beach, which, is just fine with me, since the results are lavish and not standard. Key West Extended Family Portraits

Oh yes, let us start off the New Year in style! Lately, I have had the wonderful opportunity to photograph several extended families. It really is a fantastic way to remember your family vacation to Key West, and also finally capture a photo of those cousins who are separated by so many miles.

Such a sweet family, and I want to thank Angie for not only setting up this amazing Anniversary gift for her family, but for being such a sweet and wonderful person!

As this gorgeous family parked at the beach, it started sprinkling. We had a front coming in, and were warned at the gate (at Fort Zachary Taylor) that it would be storming and soon. Not to be deterred, we forged ahead. I should mention that it was wickedly windy also. But, we found a beautiful spot where the trees blocked the wind, and the sprinkles turned to nothing. And instead of a horrible storm, we found…

Perfect family photography!

These sweet children were smiling away, and never will I think “turkey, turkey!” in quite the same way!

So, the next time someone tells you that the weather might be less than ideal, do not give up! It might just work out in your favor!

Angie, I hope that your family enjoyed my Key West photography as much as I enjoyed taking the photos! It really turned out perfectly, and you were all right – It was so cold the next day!

Anyhow, the weather worked out just fine for us, and the children were so wonderful. I hope that the rest of your stay in Key West was fantastic, and that you had a safe trip home!
